Can you believe it. ANOTHER auction! I honestly am even surprising myself with the stuff I’m finding that I can put up for sale.
This item here is the EyeTV 200 Digital Video Recorder for Mac. It may be considered an oldie by today’s standards, but it’s still very useful, especially for those wanting to convert VHS Tapes into the digital age or those still with Analog Cable Channels that want to record Live TV.
You can bid on this over at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230495727580. You have until around 10:00 pm Eastern / 7:00 pm Pacific on Monday, July 12 to place your bids. The full auction description is located just after the break.

Details
You are bidding on a used Elgato EyeTV 200 Analog Video Recorder for Mac. Take your old VHS Tapes and convert them over to digital formats, which can then be uploaded to YouTube, add to your iTunes Library, edited in iMovie, burned to DVD, and more! You can also record Live TV or schedule programs to be recorded (like a DVR) with the included EyeTV Software.
(See notes below about recording Live TV.)
The video encoding hardware includes both Composite and S-Video video inputs, Stereo audio inputs, and a Coax (RF) input. Two Firewire ports are also on the hardware: one to connect to your Mac and one as a passthrough from another Firewire device.
Just a word of warning: if you’re going to use the Firewire passthrough, you may need an AC Adapter as the power from your Mac (over the Firewire cable) may not be enough to power both the EyeTV Hardware and the other connected Firewire device. AC Adapter sold separately. (Elgato didn’t provide one with the device.)
The original retail price of the hardware is $329.95. Videos are recorded and encoded in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 video formats.
In the Box
Included in this auction is everything that originally came with the mixer, including the EyeTV 200 video encoder hardware (with analog NTSC TV tuner) itself, the EyeTV digital TV recorder software CD (with electronic product manual), infrared remote control, FireWire cable, QuickStart Guide, and Elgato Software Proof-of-Purchase (with Serial Number for EyeTV software).
Also included is an upgrade to the EyeTV 2 software, which is a huge improvement to the original EyeTV software. As this software was a digital download, I’ll be sending the original purchase email with the license key needed for the software. The software itself can be downloaded from Elgato’s web site, located at http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/support/Update-Start/Update-EyeTV-2. (Don’t worry… I’ll email the winner this information as well.)
Live TV Recording
In 2009, the United States cut off all over-the-air analog television transmissions. Any TV still needing to receive over-the-air broadcasts will need a Digital-to-Analog Converter Box. As the TV Tuner in this device is only able to pick up analog signals, you will need one of the mentioned Digital-to-Analog Signal Converters to be able to record Live TV of over-the-air television.
Visit http://www.dtv.gov/ for more information about the Digital TV Transition.
Some cable outlets and satellite providers still broadcast on analog signals, which this video recorder will be able to pick up just fine. Digital Cable and Digital Satellite set-top boxes with Composite and S-Video outputs will work just fine with this device.
Shipping
Shipping is a flat rate of $10.00 (including Alaska and Hawaii) and will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Insurance is included in the shipping costs.
NOTE: Sorry, but I will not sell or ship to anyone outside of the United States. After being burned previously by an international buyer and the mess of dealing with customs when just trying to ship gifts to friends, international buyers and shipment for me is a big no-no. Please don’t ask. I just said I won’t.
Payment
I will accept PayPal as the method of payment. Don’t forget you can still pay using Credit/Debit Cards without signing up for a PayPal account. Payments must be made within 48 hours of winning the auction.
