Living A Healthier Life Is Time Consuming

It is currently 8:30 in the morning. I’ve been awake for two hours. A few weeks ago, I’d probably just be barely getting out of bed. That’s before I had a little visit to the doctor who told me I needed to make some changes in my life.

For reason I don’t know, I figured I’d post what my new morning is like.

6:30 AM
Wake up to the Dog Alarm as Dad leaves the house and Mom yells at the dog to shut the hell up.

To try and get the brain moving, I grab my phone and start reading up on things that happened overnight in the news and on social media. Last thing I do is read up on web comics because I want to start the morning in a good mood.

~6:45 to 7:00 AM
Get my ass out of bed and weigh myself. Next I grab a bottle of water from the fridge and head to the den to start working out on the exercise bike. It works both my arms AND legs. Wowee. I also turn on the media center PC to watch YouTube videos to make the time go by. Depending on how I slept the night before, I’ll go for 30 to 45 minutes. I’m slowly working my way up to a hour. Best for me so far is ~8.25 miles in 46 minutes.

~7:35 to 8:00 AM
I stink. It’s time for a shower.

~8:00 to 8:20 AM
Time to make the donuts. And by “donuts”, I mean so kind of healthy breakfast. The concept of breakfast is foreign to me. I know brinner. I do love brinner. Anyway, it appears I’m suppose to be eating food in the morning, so I’m trying that out. I’m not liking it so far.

While I’m making breakfast, I’ll record what I had for dinner the night before in my food diary while listening to a podcast. I have to record this info since I’m suppose to be monitoring the amount of sodium that’s coming into my body. No more than 1500 mg/day. For comparison’s sake, one day, I ingested over 4000 mg. So… a bit of a difference.

If I’m feeling extra lazy, I’ll just grab a bowl of cereal. Very bland tasting cereal.

~8:20 to 8:30 AM
Sit down to eat breakfast. Browse the web again to see what other news has occurred in the past couple of hours. Check to see what shenanigans are happening on social media.

~9:00 AM
Start working on any projects I might have. Otherwise, just fuck around on the Internet. (Usually involves me TRYING to learn something new.)

As of now, that’s the first 2 1/2 hours of my day. It feels very time consuming. I know it has to be done. Stupid getting old.
