Dream: Pile up

I’m with some friends driving back from the beach in Galveston. We went with a group who are also driving back in separate cars.

We cross the causeway and are met with high water on the freeway. Instead of doing what any native Houstonian would know to do (turn around, don’t drown), we start driving through the water. Somehow, we’re able to make it through without issue, even though the water was halfway up the windows of the car.

As we approach downtown Houston, we see a tire bouncing along the mainlands headed toward us. We’re able to avoid it but have to slam the breaks as cars in front of us start crashing into one another.

We get out of the car and start looking for people to help. I call 911 somehow calmly telling them exactly what’s happening and needing multiple ambulances.

We start calling out for our friends as they were in other cars driving back with us. A couple of them show up. As hug them, some with tears in their eyes, we tell them we’re glad they’re okay.

I stand off to the side next to one of the columns of an offramp to take a breather and try taking in everything that happened.

Then I woke up.
