A Summer Morning Walk Around Mueller

After another rough week of getting my sleep pattern back under control (unsuccessfully), I decided to get out of bed and head on out to somewhere again. I decided to revisit the Mueller area this time. While I’ve been here before, there was some other places I wanted to check out this time.

Of course, one advantage of being up so early is seeing the sunrise. Sunrise and sunset are my favorite parts of the day. It’s a good thing I got these shots when I did as it turned out to be a surprising cloudy morning.

Mueller Lake is a treat to walk around. It’s common to see people fishing from the shoreline.

My favorite part of walking around lake is all the animals that are hanging around.

Unlike my last trip here when I walked around the gateway, I decided to walk around the neighborhood. There are a number of mini parks throughout the area that I wanted to check out.

A few of the roads around the Mueller neighborhood have these large medians lined with trees. These are really nice to look down. Some of them are REALLY long. Could see some art pieces or something a little more added to them.

I’m surprised by the amount of plants, flowers, and other vegetation there is around the neighborhood. It’s quite beautiful. There’s even a couple of community gardens.

I like that last shot with the bee just buzzing around. Another bee hanging around another plant was not so receptive to me taking pictures and would not leave me alone.

It’s also nice to see the residents in the area having a little fun.

I really like this neighborhood. While many of the homes are spaced pretty close, there’s just something about it feeling like a nice place to live. Not that I could ever afford to live there.

One thing I didn’t check out before is old airport control tower. Mueller was built on the land of the old Austin Airport before it was moved to Bergstrom a little further away from the city center. There are plans to turn this into another park and entertainment space with the control tower as the centerpiece, so that’s neat.

I definitely got a few steps in today. One of the longest walks I’ve had in a while.

And if you’re ever feeling down, just remember to tell yourself…
