5 years

Tuesday marked my 5th year anniversary at the company I work at, Bypass Mobile. This is the first time in my long professional life that I’ve ever been at a job this long. And that says a lot about the people I’ve worked with.

Work Took Me Out to the Ballgame

To celebrate some changes going on at work, we were treated to a trip to Dell Diamond. While I’ve been here once before for work, this is the first time I could enjoy it as a spectator.

It’s also the first time I took my new camera out for a spin. Most of these shots are taken at the max 3x optical zoom. I still have a lot to learn about how to use it, but i’m glad these came out really well!

Being unable to concentrate is really annoying…

I am too easily distracted as of late. Well, it’s not just distraction, but a horrible lack of concentration. I don’t know what’s happened recently, but my level of keeping focus has been really bad. Maybe getting out of this house will be a nice change of pace, but where do I go?

I figured I’d hit up the library tomorrow since I know it’s a place meant for getting things done. But where else? I don’t want to be that guy that stays at a diner / restaurant for 4 hours while only getting the cheapest drink on the menu. Maybe I could spend a couple hours at one place then a couple at another?

Here’s places I know I can go in Spring Branch West:

Town & Country

  • – Barnes and Noble
  • – Starbucks

City Centre

  • Flora & Muse

Memorial City

  • Fireplace area near Ice Rink
  • Panera Bread
  • Starbacks

Other

  • Brunch Kafe

I’m surprised at the lack of cafes with sitting space in City Centre. I would have figured there would have been plenty more. In fact, it seems there aren’t a lot of gathering places in this part of town. Sure, there’s plenty of shopping centers, but nothing that says “Hey… I’d like to go here, then wander over there since it’s in the same spot.”

Even if it’s only for a couple of hours a day, getting out will do me good. I need to get out of this rut. (The summer heat in the afternoon doesn’t help, especially now we’re starting to see triple-digits down here. Air conditioning can only keep a house so cool.)

Any other suggestions for what’s on this side of town? Preferably places that have free Wi-Fi. ;P
