2010 Spring Garage Sale: Data Robotics Drobo storage device

After a lot of thinking, I have finally decided to sell my Drobo on eBay (which you can find over at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230480808488). To ensure I don’t get screwed over this time, I decided to try selling this with a Reverse Price on it. I’m worried this could be a bad thing but hope for the best.

Auction ends on Friday, June 4, 2010, around 7:00 PM PDT. A reprint of the auction details after the break (or you could just visit the auction page itself).

Details

You are bidding on a used first generation Data Robotics Drobo data storage device. Drobo is similar to a RAID solution, in that it is a redundant disk system to ensure your data is available in case of any possible drive failures. Drobo goes beyond that in that Drobo can always stay on at all times, even when you need to add or remove disks. It is a wonderful and incredible backup device.

Also included are three Seagate 400 GB SATA Hard Drives (Model ST3400833NS) to get you started. When combined in the Drobo, you’ll get a combined available storage capacity of 743.1GB (1.2 TB – 372.4 GB Protected Storage – 2.1 GB Overhead). The nice part about the Drobo is that you’re not restricted to just that amount of storage. Want more space? Add another drive. Need even MORE space? Replace one or more of the other drives. It doesn’t matter as the Drobo is able to make sure your data will always be available when you change drives out.

All devices were purchased in September 2007.

In the Box

Included in this auction is the Data Robotics Drobo Storage Device, the power supply, and the three hard drives. You will need to supply your own USB 2.0 cable.

Shipping

Shipping is a flat rate of $22.00. I will let you choose which shipping service you want to use (among UPS Ground, FedEx Home Delivery, and USPS Parcel Post) as I know people can have problems with some and prefer one over another. Insurance is included in the shipping costs.

Shipping to Hawaii and Alaska will cost extra.

NOTE: Sorry, but I will not sell or ship to anyone outside of the United States. After being burned previously by an international buyer and the mess of dealing with customs when just trying to ship gifts to friends, international buyers and shipment for me is a big no-no. Please don’t ask. I just said I won’t.

Payment

I will accept PayPal as the method of payment. Don’t forget you can still pay using Credit/Debit Cards without signing up for a PayPal account. Payments must be made within 48 hours of winning the auction.

2010 Spring Garage Sale Preview: Data Robotics Drobo storage device

image

Before I decide to post this on eBay (which I probably won’t due to my last two auctions being horrible), I wanted to post a preview of my next item up for sale: a Data Robotics Drobo data storage device. I will probably ask for between $200 to $250 (before shipping) on this as that is the average on eBay currently. If you’re interested, let me know and we’ll try to work out something.

Full details after the break.
